Ruairí Fahy

Ruairí is a housing and environmental activist who has successfully defended families against illegal evictions, organised workers in trade unions and tackled corporations trying to dump polluting industries across the mid-west which threaten both our health and a livable future for our children.
With people having less and less say over their lives he wants to use the council to not only give a voice to the powerless but to help give them tools to stand up for themselves to win a better world
Priorities
- Bring boarded up houses back into use and reduce the time council houses lie empty
- Fight for free public transport and home renovations for all to tackle cost of living and climate crises
- A living wage for Limerick—council contracts should be used to raise people up not as a race to the bottom
- Bring bins and waste collection back under public control—cut costs, improve recycling and reduce litter
- Expand local democracy and give people a direct say over the new Mayoral budget

A former councillor in Limerick City, where he led to anti-water charges movement and came within 300 votes of winning a seat in the 2016 General Election. In recent years he has been an activist and organiser with Raise the Roof, Ireland-Palestine Solidarity
Campaign and People Before Profit.
He is running because “I have been shocked by the response of the EU to the brutal Israeli bombardment of Gaza and the consistent flouting of International law and feel like I have to do something to push back.
“I want to go to the European Parliament to shine a light on the EUs role in propping up Israel’s war machine while it mercilessly bombs and ethnically cleanses the people of Gaza. I will use this position to hold the European Union and Israel to account for this barbaric treatment of the people of Palestine.”
