Help elect socialists for Limerick
Help elect Socialist voices that will put people before profit onto Limerick Council and into the European Parliament.
2024 is our chance for change. The local, European and general elections beyond are our chance to kick out Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael and put a start to building a Left Government that puts people before profit.
Limerick Council has been run by a Fine Gael-Fianna Fáil coalition since 2019 and like the national government, they have failed people, exacerbated the housing crisis and delivered worsening public services. Local representatives criticise their parties while also providing cover for the failures of those parties to deal with soaring living costs, rising rents and a collapsing hospital.
We need socialist voices to shake up the cosy relationship between the councillors and the unelected executive. People Before Profit is the only party to give a commitment not to go into coalition with FF or FG at local or national level. Instead, we want to fight to build movements which build public and genuinely affordable housing and invest in service.
We are fighting to put a socialist, Ruairí Fahy, in as Ireland's first Directly Elected Mayor to take on the government and fight for more local and democratic control over how and for who Limerick is run.
We also want to get Cian Prendiville into the European parliament to take on the system that tries at every turn to privatise services like water, public transport and housing. We can't stand idly by as the EU provides material support to Israel, providing them with weapons and giving them preferential trade deals as they carry out genocide against Palestinians. People Before Profit recognise that to bring an end to injustice at home we have to fight against injustice everywhere—an injury to one is an injury to all!
People Before Profit is not a big establishment party. We don’t have millionaire backers. These campaigns will be run completely on the hard work of local activists with the help of your donations.
